Congratulations
for making the right decision on spaying and neutering your pets! You
will help save the lives of many pets from being killed at Alaska's
animal controls through your ethical decision.
Dear Pet Owners, Participating Veterinary Clinic, Humane Society, and Alaska Animal Controls:
STOP has been very successful over the last 5 years in paying for spaying and neutering of pets throughout Alaska. We have been so overwhelmed with requests for assistance and all the various paperwork involved that we haven’t had as much success at fundraising as needed lately. Two of our main volunteers also moved out of state, which weakened our volunteer force.
We recently completed our 5-year-review with the IRS (and we have done an excellent job, thanks to our volunteers and veterinarians!) and various other end-of-year data entries and IRS 990 form data collection for our accountant, and it has taken a lot of time, as well as the huge number of vouchers coming in. In 2005, we spent over $25,000 but brought in only $12,220.
We need to spend some time fundraising, so we are - as of 3/21/06 - stopping sending out new vouchers. Anchorage pet owners can apply for Friends of Pets (907-562-2535) $20 coupon, and those who can get to Anchorage from any area can use the Alaska SPCA's (907-562-2999) spay clinic...see links at left.
Most important, can you donate? We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and all donations are tax deductible. We would appreciate any assistance right now! Any volunteer help with fundraising is also needed!
Thank you, and we will put our application back up on this page as soon as we are giving out applications again. In the meantime, all issued vouchers used within 60 days of issuance will be covered.

A
Prayer for Animals
Hear
our humble prayer, O God, for
our friends the animals, especially for
animals who are suffering; for any that are
hunted or lost or destroyed or frightened
or hungry; for all that must be put to death.
We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity
and for those who deal with them we ask
a heart of compassion and gentle hands and
kindly words. Make us, ourselves, to be true
friends to animals and so to share the
blessings of the merciful. -Albert Schweitzer
